Sweetwood Rededication Video Project

Michael Clawson - Friday, September 15, 2017

On September 9, 2017,The Western Pacific Railroad Museum hosted the 100th Anniversary of the Sweetwood Red Cross Military Blood Car, honoring "Charles O. Sweetwood" a WP employee killed in action during the Korean War, September 8, 1950. Dedications and honors were made to Julia Rigutto Pagan, an original nurse of the blood car, the Sweetwood family, and those who made this unique "Blood Bank on Rails" a reality. Tributes were also paid to Charles O. Sweetwood and our nation's veterans, which included a 21-Gun salute to Charles O. Sweetwood. Documenting this incredible event was very important to our client, WPRM, so they asked us to lend a hand. It was a project that ended up with the final 23 minute video listed below that features highlights of the event, historic photos, speeches, and emotional footage that should not be missed.    Read More

iPhoneography Book Has New Life

Michael Clawson - Monday, October 12, 2015

If you have been following me on Twitter or Instagram, you may have heard me announce last year that I was writing an iPhoneography book. I bet you are wondering what happened? Long story short, my original publisher closed down their division, so my book was put in limbo. For a year, I’ve been working with my agent to get my rights back, and I’m happy to announce the book will soon be available from Apress, in a revised form (updated for current trends).   Read More

The topics of education and a skilled workforce are two driving forces behind Portola City Manager Robert Meacher's efforts to connect with Reno. An iPhoneography Stair Study

Michael Clawson - Tuesday, September 03, 2013

Over a week ago, I journeyed to Carmel, California for a working/family vacation. I say working because, being a digital entrepreneur equipped with laptops and mobile devices, I ended up having to travel with a few pressing client deadlines. Fortunately, I was able to finish them in a timely manner and enjoy the rest of my vacation! Now, Carmel is a truly beautiful seaside town perfect for any photographer wanting to capture its splendor and magic. While I spent time capturing images of the sea and surrounding wildlife, I found myself drawn to the many decorative stairways that reminded me of my visit to Europe. The stairways beckoned me to make a study, and so I set about to collect stairway images with my trusted iPhone 4s.    Read More

MacWorld 2012 Recap

Michael Clawson - Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Every year I make the journey to MacWorld in San Francisco, because at my core (pun intended) I’m a 100% Apple Fanboy. While I enjoyed walking around the exhibit floor and discovering all the really cool Mac/iDevice software and gadgets, this year’s trip was a little different since I had the opportunity to speak about iPhone Photography in two iWorld sessions.  Read More

Do We Spend Enough Time Working 'In' Our Business?

Michael Clawson - Monday, November 14, 2011

I often ask myself, do I spend more time working ‘in’ my business or ‘for’ my business? My entrepreneurial career has spanned over 15 years and I have seen things come and go in my industry, but the one thing that seems constant is that too many of us in the advertising community are so busy doing great work for our clients that we neglect to do great work for ourselves. Maybe this is as it should be since our clients are our bread and butter, but we have to be aware of how important it is for us to keep our skills and talents honed, especially as things change or new ways of doing things are presented.
